What do you enjoy most about teaching with Pacific Preparatory?

My favorite part of teaching with Pacific Preparatory is the relationships I have with my students. My students are fun, creative, and enthusiastic. They have a curiosity and passion for learning. It is so special that I have the opportunity to get to know my students 1:1 because I am able to design lessons that meet their needs as learners and their interests as people. I love it when my students' faces light up with big smiles and laughter, and I am able to share in their joy of learning!

What's your favorite subject to teach and why?

I thoroughly enjoy teaching elementary science because of the wonder it brings and the hands-on learning activities. In particular, I love challenging my students with STEM activities. STEM activities are fun and engaging for students, and they foster creativity, imagination, and problem-solving skills.

What surprised you about teaching with Pacific Preparatory?

I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of support that Pacific Preparatory offers its teachers. When I started working at Pacific Preparatory, I immediately felt welcomed. PacPrep offers its teachers so many resources, so that we can best meet our students' needs and is made up of talented, creative, and knowledgeable individuals. I love teaching at Pacific Preparatory!

What is your favorite activity to do outside of teaching?

I love to walk! During the pandemic, my sister and I started going on long walks through our neighborhood. It was a great way for us to stretch our legs, get fresh air, and enjoy each other’s company. I have been walking ever since! Two of my favorite places to walk are along the beach in San Clemente, CA and along the Lady Bird Lake trails in Austin, Texas.

Lauren, we and your students are so lucky to have you on our team! Congratulations on being our Teacher of the Month!
