Teacher of the Month⼁Introducing Tracy J.
At Pacific Preparatory, we are so lucky to work with the most thoughtful and inspiring instructors, all who bring lessons to life with engaging connections to student interests and their community. This month, we are excited to celebrate Tracy, who specializes in integrating student’s interests and fostering a love of reading that transcends into fun and engaging grammar and writing practice.
Tracy (she/her/hers) graduated from CSU Monterey Bay with a BA in Liberal Studies and a CLAD Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. She also holds an MA in Education and Curriculum Design and an Education Specialist Credential and has won Teacher of the Year awards. Before working at Pacific Preparatory, she then spent twenty years teaching English and history in the classroom, as well as serving on the site leadership team and teaching an after school enrichment program. Tracy is passionate about inspiring student curiosity and content mastery through her integration of executive functioning skills, organization, time management, and goal setting. With Pacific Preparatory, Tracy teaches elementary and secondary ELA and social studies. In her spare time you can find her enjoying ultrarunning and beach time with her family.
What’s your favorite subject to teach and why?
I love teaching English language arts! I thoroughly enjoy sharing novels with students and having deep conversations about what we are reading. I also really enjoy teaching writing and helping students become more confident in their writing abilities.
What do you enjoy most about teaching with Pacific Preparatory?
As a teacher, for me it's always been about the connections. At Pacific Preparatory I love developing the deep connections both with my students and with their families through the 1:1 learning environment.
Can you tell me about a specific time when you saw a student thriving at Pacific Preparatory?
I've worked with several students that came into my class not really loving to read, but during our time together they would enjoy the books we shared. It is always fun when class ends and students are disappointed because they want to read more!
Tracy, we and your students are so lucky to have you on our team! Congratulations on being our Teacher of the Month!
