Extracurriculars: Learning Together at PacPrep

One of the best parts of Pacific Preparatory’s online 1:1 education model is that we end up working with amazing students from across the globe; we have kiddos in the midwest, out east, all up the west coast, and many living abroad. But, one thing brings them all together: a love of learning.

As we at PacPrep very well know, the benefits of 1:1 education are countless: customized learning plans, individualized attention, and access to world-class educators and mentors. But, as many families ask us, what about socialization with their peers?

Growing Together

Often, we work closely with families to suggest additional local resources, classes, and activities so that their children can connect with peers in their community. But, we also wanted to find ways for students to tap into what we already have: a robust community of learners with unique perspectives on the world. As such, this past year, we were proud to launch our extracurricular program, allowing students to connect with peers across the globe. Our students read together, painted together, created together, and grew. During this tough year, it was heartening to see students dig deep and explore their interests, not only in their 1:1 classrooms, but in our group events, as well.

Exploring Together

As we look ahead to the 2021-2022 academic year, we are excited to continue this extracurricular programming with a fun lineup of activities. Starting in September, we will begin our weekly reading circle for our pre-K, kindergarten, and first graders. We will also launch our monthly paint night where our favorite professional artist Susan will lead students through how to create amazing works of art. Then, starting in October, we will launch our grade-specific book clubs, pairing groups of students with expert English teachers who will help them expand their horizons through literature. Staci Stutsman

Assistant Head of School
Staci is a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Head of School who supports the daily operations and processes of the school. Her responsibilities include leading strategy on teacher professional development, student learning, and staff recruitment, hiring, and onboarding. Beyond her work at Pacific Preparatory, Staci is proud to lead school district partnerships at Tutor Corps and our scholarship program at the Tutor Corps Foundation, working to bring the gift of 1:1 education at free and reduced rates to over 200 students a year. Staci graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English from Western Michigan University before completing her Ph.D. in English from Syracuse University. At Syracuse, she taught college-level writing classes and trained new graduate teaching assistants. Before becoming the Operations Director at Pacific Preparatory, Staci taught students across the Bay Area through the organization. Her experience as a teacher has given her a unique perspective on the needs of both teachers and students in the 1:1 education space. Staci's attention to detail and strong work ethic have made her an invaluable member of the team. In her free time, Staci loves reading fiction, snuggling with her dogs, cooking, and going for hikes around Portland.
