Inspired Summer Art Camp

This summer, we were excited to welcome artist Susan Nichols back again to host our summer art camp in the month of July! Susan, like all of our PacPrep teachers, is an incredible and engaging virtual teacher. With the right set up, even art instruction can be done virtually! In order to thoughtfully lead students through art instruction, Susan utilizes an impressed multi-camera set up. She has one camera for herself so that students can watch her while she teaches, one to highlight her easel and the paints she's selecting, and a third to highlight her canvas as she paints. This allows students a more immersive, instructive experience.

During the camp, students learned about three different styles of art, chronologically: Impressionism, Cubism, and Pop Art. Each week they learned about the history of each style and made a painting in the style of a different artist. We were impressed by our students’ care and skill while they were painting and they got better with each class.

Students are able to see Susan’s palette of colors on the left and her in-progress painting on the right, following along at home with their own supplies.
