Embracing Brilliance: Honoring Autism on Masterpiece Day
It was an honor to work with students and teachers at PacPrep to support Alexandra Hoffman’s #GlobalMasterpieceDay. If you missed it, it’s not too late to join in!
Dynamic instructors at PacPrep are engaging students through the screen by using digital tools that spark opportunities for hands-on engagement. In this case, teachers read Alexandra Hoffman’s Masterpiece aloud, both through utilizing the eBook and hardcover versions, and worked with their students to create art pieces of their own. Included to the right is one of our Kindergartner's Masterpieces, highlighting her love for the color green.
Joining students around the world, PacPrep learners in grades K-5 came together on or near April 26th, 2023 to celebrate #GlobalMasterpieceDay. As PacPrep students celebrated how everyone is unique, and something to be cherished, they also learned about autism during Autism Acceptance Month. Our student population includes autistic individuals* and it’s important to continue the conversation, even within our 1:1 model.
*According to the Autistic Self-Advocacy Network, using identity-first language is the preference amongst autistic individuals.
